HUMAN FORUM

Human Forum is a grassroots initiative that brings together multiple events and advocacy efforts focused on democracy and human rights. Our flagship event is the HUMAN FORUM FESTIVAL, held annually in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. Now in its 11th year, it has become one of the leading democracy and human rights festivals in Central Europe.

The Human Forum aims to unite representatives from international organizations, governments, academia, civil society, and the private sector to discuss and strengthen their roles in promoting democracy and human rights worldwide.

In the previous edition, the Human Forum welcomed over 250 participants. Notable past speakers include Zuzana Čaputová, President of Slovakia, Rastislav Káčer, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, and Uzra Zeya, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, among many others.

In addition to the annual festival, the HUMAN FORUM community also organizes SMALL HUMAN FORA in towns and villages across Slovakia. These initiatives aim to build the capacity of local civil society organizations. The latest iteration included nine days of events featuring workshops, lectures, and public activities, attracting over 1,000 participants.
