Meet the new Student Affiliates

FIAMMETTA MONDINI

I am a second-year student in the International Master’s Degree in Intelligence, Security, and Strategic Studies (IMSISS) at the University of Glasgow. It’s a joint degree together with Dublin City University and Charles University of Prague.

My main interests in relation to the Institute of Democracy are related to my academic background and they are mostly focus on security, disinformation, and democracy. I am currently working on my final dissertation about the interconnection of these fields, together with Cognitive Security.

Outside of univerities, I like spending my time in adventurous activities, reading, travelling, and doing sports. Sailing is one of my greatest passion, I have been a sailor and a skipper for several years now.

VAMSI VARMA DANTULURI

Vamsi is a graduate student in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies at University of Glasgow. His background is in computer science and having worked around some laterals in cybersecurity, he moved on to the field of social sciences to pursue his interests in security, governance, social impact and counterterrorism. He is currently working on his dissertation related to the use of cognitive security to combat disinformation and can be seen with a sketchbook in his downtime.

ANDREA LISSETTE VALENCIA ROJAS

I am a final-year postgraduate student in the international master degree in security, intelligence and strategic studies. With a multidisciplinary background on criminology and psychology, I decided to join the Institute for Democracy to further explore the intersection between cyber and policy.

My interest lies in developing my expertise on cyber security, emerging technologies and internet governance – how these fields are shaping our society and future policy. Currently, I am working on my dissertation examining the infrastructure of digital platforms and their role on the cyberspace in relation to national security.

When not on working mode, you will find me reading about absolutely everything or spending much of my time surfing on the internet. Sometimes I even write short stories. Outdoors, I love to explore new settings of the places I travel to while I learn new languages, cultures or local customs.
