Her research connects\u00a0political science\u00a0and\u00a0communication studies. She focuses on three areas: the relationship between the state, political actors, and\u00a0the\u00a0media;\u00a0gender representation; and the\u00a0politics of transparency\u00a0reforms.\u00a0Her work has been published in the European Political Science Review and the International Journal of Press\/Politics, among other outlets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1ria holds a\u00a0PhD in Political Science\u00a0from the\u00a0University of Strathclyde\u00a0in Glasgow.\u00a0During her time\u00a0with the\u00a0Institute for Democracy, she\u00a0will analyse the results of the survey investigating hostility and violence against journalists across seven European democracies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-101bc267 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"101bc267\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 M\u00e1ria \u017duffov\u00e1\u00a0is a Research Fellow at the\u00a0European University Institute.
